The Mussorgsky (Mikhailovsky) Opera and Ballet Theatre
The story talks about wanderings of the "Knight of the Rueful Countenance" who was conceived by Cervantes, Spanish writer of the 17th century. Having imagined himself as a noble hidalgo, ready for his feats, Don Quixote makes sly fellow Sancho Panza his armour-bearer, and set to search for Dulcinea, the queen of his heart, wearing his knightly armour and a shaving basin instead of a helmet on his head. In Barcelona he helps two young people to get married, despite the counteraction of the father of the bride.
