The Mussorgsky (Mikhailovsky) Opera and Ballet Theatre
The story of love of young Count Albreht who hides his title and his bride from Giselle, a peasant girl. Jealousy of Hilarion the gamekeeper leads to the deceit being uncovered. Giselle dies tragically. After her death she forgives her lover and saves his life, saving him from spirits of dead brides, the Wilis, who, according to the Slavic legend make anyone who comes to the cemetery at night dance until they die from exhaustion.
