The Mariinsky (Kirov Ballet) Theatre
The comic and ironic opera follows the novel by Gogol, a famous writer. In many ways it is an innovation in world music and a new type of opera with no main characters or love intrigue. The fantastic here merges with everyday life, with the two getting intertwined. College Assessor Kovalev loses his nose, and the Nose lives for several days independently posing as a State Councilor.
