The Mariinsky (Kirov Ballet) Theatre
Ballet is based on a sentimental novel of the 18th century entitled "Manon Lescaut" written by Abbe; Prevost which tells the story about a charming, but thoughtless girl. Because of her character she goes through much suffering, ruining not only her own life, but also the life of her lover, who notices things in her that no other person can see. Thoughtless, feather-brained, salacious, captivating, eternally desired and eternally escaping: the image of Manon Lescaut does not cease to excite imagination of artists and musicians for over two hundred years.
