The Mariinsky (Kirov Ballet) Theatre
The plot of La Traviata is borrowed from Dumas Fist Lady with camellias in which he reflected events of his own life. Action takes place in Paris in the middle of the 19th century. The main heroine courtesan Violetta from Paris falls in love with a young man from a respected family, Alfred. He takes her away from the environment where she lived. But she is very sick and knows that she will not live for a long time. Besides, the father of the young man persuades her to leave from him, and not to dishonor the family. She leaves him. Alfred finds her, in despair he publicly offends her. In the end he learns the truth that she promised her father to leave him. The lovers are reunited again, but not for long. Violetta dies.
