The Mariinsky (Kirov Ballet) Theatre
This is the last opera of the composer, which took him 40 years to write. In 1841 he first read the poem. Work on the libretto started in 1857, and composition of music began in 1877. Orchestration took three years, and was finished only a year before the composer's death.
Grail's King Amfortas has long been suffering from a terrible wound inflicted by a sacred dagger, which he could not keep, overcome by temptation. No one can help him to become the savior of the ancient relic. No one, that is, except for an innocent suffering youth that Parsifal is. Some time before people failed him, but years after Parsifal carried through with his holy role.
